Let People Find You on Google

Google could very well be the 21st century Yellow Pages. Back in the day, searching for a company involved picking up a heavy phone book and letting your fingers do the searching. At best, your search would lead you to a black and white ad showing the company’s name, address and phone number. If you were lucky, a short bulleted summary of their services would be thrown in there somewhere, as would a short tagline and, budget-permitting, company logo.

Today, clients go online not just to look up contact details of prospective real estate agents, but to learn as much as they can about them. Good real estate websites should answer every question a potential client has in mind, and if there is one that it doesn’t answer, your realtor website should at the very least offer a contact number or email address where they can direct their query. Not having a professional website in this day and age is quite simply career suicide. When people go online, they expect to see everything there is to know about you and your company before even calling. If the search for your name or contact details on Google yields irrelevant results, chances are they will proceed to the next person.

Already have an agent website? Great. Are you sure that your contact details are displayed prominently? You’ll be surprised at the number of sites that scream for your attention from their homepage, yet offer no phone numbers or clues on how to reach them. It is imperative that aside from having a beautiful and fully functional website that showcases the services and expertise of your company, essential details like office and/or mobile numbers should not be overlooked.

If your online presence and SEO strategies are up to par, Google should return more than one entry for every search. More often than not, your company website should rank first, followed by your social media profiles like your blog, LinkedIn, Twitter or Facebook. With that in mind, it pays to review your contact information page on those social sites as well to make sure all important fields are filled out. Considering the number of people on these sites, you have every reason to be as thorough giving out your office phone numbers here as you would with something as basic and elementary as your business card.

So don’t be a needle in an enormous haystack. Make sure you include your contact numbers and email address on your agent website, real estate blog and all your social networking sites. Not only will it make life easier for your potential clients, but you will also be reaping the benefits of effective SEO for all your sites.
